Being
some hundred metres in a naturally grown forest and away from the
path, I sometimes feel like I understand how and where all the
fairytales and stories about fairies and dwarfs have come from. Do
you know what I mean?
A
forest can have something magical
– a silence that most of the time
is no silence at all, but a constant murmuring, rustling trees,
rushing wind and singing birds. There's light that reaches the ground
only filtered through
a roof of branches and green leaves. A ground
that is covered with the most varied parts of plants: layers of dry
leaves, bushes and herbs, old dead trees and younger branches among
stones, earth and small brooks and ponds. Being in a forest creates
the most different feelings in humans, depending on their situation,
company and of course, season and hour. You simply cannot compare the
same woods in spring, summer, fall and winter! Some people relax when
walking through the forest, some get frightened - especially in the
night - or feel utterly lonely. You can get – or simply feel -
really lost in a forest.
Some
feel a secrecy like in a hidden place – why else would a faraway
meadow in the forest be
a major motive for a romantic place? I think
the feeling that the forest will always keep some secrets you will
never get into, has inspired people throughout the centuries to the
stories about fable creatures who live in the woods. At the same time
they tried to tame nature, to make maps, paths and roads, to cut or
burn it down and replant it.
But
a forest which got so thouroughly combed that no secrets and hidden
places remain would
be a park. And who won't agree that the
atmosphere in a park is always different? I think it cannot be
compared with the feeling you get while straying through a 'genuine'
forest.
Some
people also feel quite small in the great woods and see the greatness
of its creator.
And a single picture can impossibly describe the
diversity of the different forests with their atmospheres – winter,
summer, spring, autumn, dusk, daylight, dawn, night... - one gets to
know here in Germany, let alone around the world!
You
don't have to be a freak of nature (which I'm most positively not!
Being outside can be so ...uncomfortable ;) to enjoy the charme of
the woods. Whether you go there alone or with a friend, take a look
around yourself: Although I cannot promise you to see a fairy or any
spectacular animal you might anyway catch that fairytale-feeling too.

to answer the question at the beginning: yes i do know that feeling!the most fairytalelike place ever in my opinion is iceland...but german forests are magical too.. i love wandering through them, especially alone, or rather without my family, so friends are okay...or frogs.. any kind of frogs ;) not only the human ones i mean xDD even though the animal ones piss on me -.- literally >.<
AntwortenLöschenoh i forgot: i like this entry :))), really good description
AntwortenLöschenyou're so cute... ;) (forget this if you don't like it, but I had to say it:) thank you!
Löschenps:I'm sure, Timo (as you didn't came up with a better name, he IS Timo by now x3) meant no harm, he most positively is very, very thankful! and.. you'd have been afraid too if the proportions had been the other way around xD (which doesn't mean that YOU'd have pissed on him - literally ;)
1) HAHAHAHAHHAHAHA the thing you wrote in the first brackets x)))) LOL
Löschen2) O.O he is JEAN-BOB. ò.ó - and in case you need an explanation for that face, it's NOT happy.
;)
OOOOPS! :S (is that the right expression for 'extremely embarassed and sorry' ??) Seems like I'm getting old or something...
Löschenany kinds of frogs x))))) I love this entry jessi :) beautiful descriptions, and amazing picture...I love the turquoise sort of undergrowth...and the green light..it reminds me of the forests in Lord of the Rings...I have to go to Iceland, altogether, the more you get to the North, the more fascinating the forests get..but the German forests ARE beautiful too, that's right..actually I get the same kind of amazing feeling when I'm in SNOW...(and yes, being alone has a really amazing effect sometimes) I LOVE taking a walk through snow..it's kinda anastasia-ish...Journey to the paaaasst ♪♫ and all that :)
AntwortenLöschenhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sl9oFczH6Sg
..that's why I love anastasia - I mean this is ME, all over x) I've sung this song soo many times....
the picture would have been even better if I could have posted it with the right proportions and a better size, but blogger is compromiseless with these things...
Löschenthe song IS really beautiful and I think, I somehow understand why it's YOUR song :)(although it crashed my bloggeraccount to watch it, they wanted all sorts of confirmations and even my mobile nr to restart it!! >.<) and you're right about snow... I love snow too although I don't really like cold (and wouldn't especially dream about going north ;)))
oh yeah, no, definitely not going North FOREVER, but temporarily I am in LOVE with the North..I even get these (highly peculiar and slightly scary) moments when I feel that I love THIS place...:) hehe I'm glad you like it..and that you listened to it in spite of the mobile number question and all that useless CRAP >.< e.g. the stuuupid password - gwen agrees with me on that..(it's one of the few points we find a consent :P) umm oh yeah I wanted to say you're using the faces brilliantly.. :) especially the >.< Epic. Never join facebook once you've started loving the faces, facebook chat RUINS them, I'm telling you, ruins them..hahhah especially the kiss face (naah I never really need that) but man, trust me, you don't wanna see what fb turns it into. It's like a WEAPON.
Löschenthank you - with such a good dictionary at hand... ;)) and I certainly have no intention to join fb!! too many things to get mad about... and for me they overweigh the advantages, those moments when I think -.- , I'd really miss a part of life - but no. Still, I always seem to lack faces and ESSENTIAl emotions - maybe one day I'll collect them & ask you 2 again...
LöschenYou're description really reminds me of Fangorn (LotR) - this is a forest which is decribed rather hostile towards man (or in this case: hobbits) and where the paths are even changing! This forest is - full of secrets and I think I would look at it full of awe!
AntwortenLöschenNicely written - Thanks! :-)
